Todd Maki

Committed to Serve

Students Leadership Foundation

The focus of the organization is on giving students the desirable skills of leadership in a form of training that is comprehensive and refined from the masters skilled in the art of training and teamwork. Leadership would not exist if it were not for the people currently ushering in a new generation of mentors and also the most attuned methods of honing the trust of followers. There is a great divide between the younger generations and the leadership of the elder generations. We need to inspire the minds of tomorrow with the mixed methods of teaching that can create a bridge between reaching those in the middle of the generation gap. Alongside our mission to promote leadership in the classroom and beyond, we will provide scholarship to qualified applicants that meet the requirements and assessment that determine their potential and ambition.

Todd Maki is a recent MPA graduate from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and an Accredited Financial Counselor in El Paso, Texas. He had formed the Students Leadership Foundation many years ago and initiated a board of directors to assist in helping all students. In December of 2016, he graduated with distinction from Hawaii Pacific University with a Masters in Human Resources Management. Prior to that he completed a tour as both a Non-Commissioned Officer and as a Commissioned Officer in the US Army. Prior to military service, Todd came within a few hundred votes of winning the primary for Florida State Representative in District 87. Out of his multitude of experiences, he has emerged as a well rounded leader eager to take on many challenges that come his way.

For many years, Todd has been deeply committed to public service in education, political, military, health & safety, and faith-based arenas. His his policy interests and early involvement dates back to his college days at Palm Beach State College when he met with the Lt. Governor of Florida. While studying political science and philosophy at Florida State University, he interned in the Florida State Legislature for State Senator Dave Aronberg and for State Senator and U.S. Congressman, Ron Klein.

Todd has long been a leader and a trainer of leaders. Active in student government, he represented more than 40,000 students as the Student Trustee on the District Board of Trustees of Palm Beach State College.  As the sole student representative, he worked rigorously with the Student Body, Administration and other Trustees to improve food service and facilities.  At the request of the director of the Summer Youth College, Todd, who participated in a similar program in 2004, led Future Leadership Boca in 2008 and 2009. He is also the founder and past chairman of the Christian Leadership Association at Palm Beach State College and was Secretary of Municipal Affairs at Florida State University.  While studying Political Science at Florida State, Todd worked hard with the City and County Commissions to maintain free student travel on public transit and improve ride times at and around the University as a Stakeholder.

Much of Todd's work life has been in the field of public service and health & safety. He has been everything from an Aqua Aerobics Instructor for the U.S. Water Fitness Association, Aquatic Supervisor and Swim Lesson Instructor at the YMCA, a Boca Raton Ocean Rescue Lifeguard and was a Disaster Alert Team Member to a Health and Safety Educator (CPR, First Aid, AED) for the American Red Cross. Todd was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Boca Raton where he participated in a mission trip to Haiti. He was an Assistant Team Leader for the Kairos Prison Ministry; a fund raiser for Food for the Poor; and a participant in Habitat for Humanity.  Working for years as a salesman prior to his service, he came out ready to lead and is now managing a construction company while attending Hawaii Pacific University for (MAHRM) Master of Arts in Human Resources Management.

His many honors and awards prior to Military Service include a Provost Award for Distinguished Service at Palm Beach State College; Volunteer in Public Schools, Palm Beach County; and an Environmental Scholarship at Gumbo Limbo/FAU. He served under the Chief of Naval Education and Training in NJROTC; and he has delivered opening remarks at the Junior Achievement, South Florida Business Hall of Fame with Gen.
